That Devil Harlequin
Bambabambin Puppet Theatre
THAT Devil'S ARLECCHIN.
Commedia dell'Arte and puppet show, for all
Friday, May 26, 5 p.m., Rocca Brancaleone
by and with Paolo Rech
Alichino, Harlequin, Hellequin, Herlaking--so many names for one character with devilish origins: Harlequin. The likeable hero of the Commedia dell'Arte, before he was the good-natured and somewhat foolish servant we all know, had a glorious past among the infernal ranks. His ancestors led the Wild Hunt, a mythological masnada of spirits and ferocious animals, particularly dogs, that terrorized Alpine and northern European nights. The show revisits the origins of the World's most famous mask with a modern, ironic look and simple, funny language, using the techniques of Commedia dell'Arte and Puppet Theater.
Paolo Rech, a graduate in foreign languages and literatures, has been a professional puppeteer since 2004. Since 2006, he has organized the animated figure theater review "...Figuriamoci!"; he also takes care of the artistic direction of events and festivals in Veneto and Trentino. He collaborates with various institutions: Schools, Embassies, Italian Institutes of Culture. Spreads knowledge of the masks of the Commedia dell'Arte in Italy and the World, through traditional shows that he has revisited in a personal key. He participates in numerous International Festivals: Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, England, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine. Through outreach projects he brings a smile to hundreds of children in Eritrea, Uganda and Bolivia.

The show reviews the origins of the most famous mask in the world with a modern and ironic look and with a simple and amusing language, using the techniques of the Commedia dell'Arte and the Puppet Theater.
