The Museum La casa delle Marionette is located in the heart of the city of Ravenna, just a few steps from Piazza del Popolo. It houses the precious Monticelli Collection, a collection of performing arts materials belonging to the Italian tradition of puppet and marionette theater since 1840. The Monticelli Family, aka Teatro de Drago, is one of the custodians of the art of Figure Theater in our country, thanks to its past and recent history. Thanks to Five uninterrupted generations of theatricals , today we can admire a collection consisting of 63 marionettes, 150 puppets, 132 stage sets, 150 manuscript scripts and numerous touring materials ( photos, playbills, permits, notices, censures)
The Museum is open year-round. Direct management is entrusted to the Dragon Theater, which in addition to guarding the secrets of traditional theater is also the creator and promoter of ever new initiatives to renew and grow the desire for knowledge of both children and adults. The Casa delle Marionette organizes guided tours of the collections; performances of traditional puppets from Emilia Romagna; workshops for the construction of puppets, marionettes, puppets and scenic materials; refresher courses for teachers on puppetry (historical and practical) and thematic itineraries among the activities that make this small performing arts museum come alive
