An unexpected encounter that begins with a big crash and a big scare. "What's happening on the other side?" Anna asks herself on the evening when beyond the wall of her room someone suddenly makes a big commotion. Yet it will be precisely that little snag, a hole in the wall made unintentionally, that makes her discover that just beyond it someone else lives. Beyond the wall begins Jan's house, and on the other side life seems to be very different from hers indeed. That small glimmer becomes a possible passageway, capable of containing and telling the memories of a lifetime. A simple and cheerful story of two worlds that meet and open up to each other, full of curiosity and a desire to change. The show, born from the union of three illustrated books by Korean author Suzy Lee (Hans Christian Andersen Award 2022), develops through an essential use of words and prefers to rely on the power of gestures, bodies, objects and, of course, shadows.
Teatro Gioco Vita was born in 1971 from theatrical animation, thanks to which he offered an original contribution to the birth of children's theater in Italy. He met shadow theater at the end of the 1970s, and from his work with consistency and professional conscience he matured a unique experience that earned him recognition and prestigious collaborations. He combines his activity on the territory with a strongly international dimension, taking his shadow shows to every part of the world.
English version
One step more
An unexpected meeting starts with a big bang and almighty fright. "What's going on over there?". These thoughts go through Anna's head one night when someone causes havoc on the other side of her bedroom wall. But due to this very unexpected event, this inadvertant hole in the wall, she finds out that just one step more, on the other side of the wall, lives someone else. Jan's house is on the other side of the wall and life over there appears to be very different to hers. Little by little, that small chink turns into a possible passageway and the wall appears to come to life, able to hold and tell the memories of a lifetime. A simple and cheerful story of two worlds that meet and welcome each other, full of surprises and the will to change. One step more is based on three books illustrated by the Korean author Suzy Lee (Hans Christian Andersen Prize, 2022). The story develops through a limited number of words and prefers to rely on the strength of gestures, bodies, objects and, naturally, shadows.
Theater Play Life, born in 1971 from a background of educational theater practices, gives an original contribution to youth theater.
