"The war is about to begin, now is the time to become heroes. But the soldiers are plastic toy soldiers, the battlefield is a table, and "home" is just a distant image on a screen. In a battle without enemies or goals, the line between reality and imagination blurs: is it really happening, or is it just a game?"
Plastic Heroes is made entirely of "ready-made" objects, children's toys, mainly those related to the imagery of soldiers, weapons and war, and uses ipads, Iphones and videos. Desire, violence, sex, hatred and fear are put on display on the bare surface of a table and the toys come to life, in a distorted world where the innocence of children's play meets the bloody reality of adult war.
Ariel Doron is an animator, director and performer. He usually uses few words and a lot of joy in his work, often in order to address burning social and political issues.
