Orcs, anthropophagi and butchers. Miscellaneous stories for juicy children
by Alfonso Cipolla
published by Edizioni Seb27
This book is addressed to the cavastorie, to all wanderlusters with wandering thoughts, retro library rats, hardened children, anxious parents, nostalgic educators, benevolent probs readers, the inclined garrison, and listless or distracted serial killers. A narrated collection of non-essays, facetious studies, childhood theaters and lost paradises. Bandoli to knot stories, hearsay, fairy tales, myths, puppets. Tales of tales, a thousand times reinvented between orality, petty literature, imaginaries of little theaters. Stories of ogres, of anthropophagi, of butchers, of sausage-maidens. Stories of disobedient little girls with or without the ruby hood. Stories of ravenous mouths and sellout children. Stories of ashes, chimneys and chimney sweeps. Stories of polyfemales, of pollywogs, of minnows. Stories of talking beasts and beastly humans. Stories of fear to hide fear. Stories of truths to disguise truths as stories.

A house separated by a border, which man has decided upon following a temporary armistice, becomes a metaphor for waiting, for a suspended existence, poised between reality and illusion, in which the remnants of a few old pieces of furniture can be discerned, while all around resonate the voices, the roars, the sirens, the sounds of a battlefield. Atom and Levana, survivors of an almost apocalyptic scenario, are a middle-aged couple living between two bordering and warring countries, they spend their time inside their small, broken, dented, lopsided, worn-out house, waiting for their beloved son, who left for war, to return and illuminate their present with new hope. .
