When Orlando discovers that Angelica has fallen in love with another man, and what is more, not a warrior but a simple soldier, he goes mad. His madness is a violent rage that leaves no chance of coming to his senses. Only the intervention of the supernatural can heal him from the spell of love and jealousy. Agramant of Africa brings war to Charlemagne. Christians and Saracens clash under the walls of the city of Paris. Chloridanus and Medorus, in order to recover the body of their King Dardanello, push on under the city walls at night but are attacked by a squad of Christians, who kill Chloridanus and seriously wound Medorus. Meanwhile, Angelica, in an attempt to get away from France, arrives at the camp where the fighting has just taken place and there, among the dead bodies, she hears a lament. To be seriously wounded is Medoro, who had gone to find the body of King Dardanello to give him an honorable burial. Angelica rescues him and falls madly in love with him. Medoro heals and the two live a beautiful love affair. Meanwhile, Orlando wanders the countryside and mountains in search of Angelica. At one point, he spots some inscriptions carved in the bark of trees that reveal the great love between Angelica and Medoro. The pain of his beloved's betrayal is such that the paladin goes mad and destroys everything he comes across. Meanwhile, Astolfo, who had decided to search for Orlando, finds himself in the midst of an enchantment. Led by the Hippogryph to the moon, he meets St. John, who shows him where the breasts of all men are kept, and therefore Orlando's as well. It is up to him to retrieve the great paladin's wits and bring it back to earth.
Mimmo, the eldest of Cav. Giacomo Cuticchio's male children, broke away from his father's company in 1971 and formed the Figli d'Arte Cuticchio group, operating in schools of all levels. On July 29, 1973, he opened the Teatro dei Pupi S. Rosalia in Palermo at Via Bara all'Olivella No. 95 where the cycle of the story of the Paladins of France is still performed and where the preservation of the heritage of techniques handed down from father to son or from master to pupil is an essential value. In the year 1977, he founded the "Figli d'Arte Cuticchio" Association, which merged the company of the same name. For the first time a company of puppeteers is recognized by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage This allows a further development and qualification of the activity that extends more and more in those areas of craftsmanship that traditionally flanked the work of the puppets and on which the puppeteers have always relied; it allows it to set itself as a self-sufficient production unit, capable of producing shows, controlling all its phases, from the embossing of metals for the armor, to the carving of wood for the bodies of the puppets, to the painting of scenes and signs, to the making of costumes. The company, directed by Mimmo Cuticchio, welds three main languages of theatrical communication: the recovery of traditional puppet and cunto techniques, research and experimentation. In addition to production activity, the Figli d'Arte Cuticchio group promotes and organizes exhibitions, reviews and since 1985 a theater festival dedicated to figure theater and storytelling entitled La Macchina dei Sogni. In 1997 Mimmo Cuticchio opened the doors of his workshop and established the first School for Puppeteers and Cuntisti with the aim of guaranteeing a future for puppet theater and the cunto. On May 18, 2001, UNESCO recognized the work of the puppets as "intangible heritage of humanity." In 2013, by a decree, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism - General Directorate for Archives Service II Protection and Preservation of Archival Heritage, declared the paper archive of the Figli d'Arte Cuticchio Association to be of historical interest.
English version
When Orlando discovers that Angelica has fallen in love with another man, and moreover not with a warrior but with a simple soldier, he goes mad. His madness is a violent fury, which leaves no glimpse of any possibility of coming to his senses. Only the intervention of the supernatural will be able to cure him of the love spell and jealousy. Agramante of Africa brings the war to Charlemagne. Christians and Saracens clash under the city walls of Paris. Chloridano and Medoro, in order to recover the body of their King Dardanello, go at night as far as the city walls but are attacked by a group of Christians, who kill Chloridano and seriously wound Medoro. Meanwhile Angelica, in an attempt to get away from France, arrives in the field where the fight has just taken place and there, among the corpses, she hears a lament. Seriously wounded is Medoro, who had gone to look for the body of King Dardanello to give him an honorable burial. Angelica rescues him and falls madly in love with him. Medoro heals and the two live a beautiful love story. Meanwhile Orlando wanders through the countryside and mountains in search of Angelica. At one point, he sees some writings engraved in the bark of the trees which reveal the great love between Angelica and Medoro. The pain for the betrayal of his beloved is such that the paladin goes mad and destroys everything in his path. Meanwhile Astolfo, who had decided to look for Orlando, finds himself in the middle of a spell. Conducted by the Hippogriff on the Moon, he meets San Giovanni who shows him where the wits of all men are kept and therefore also that of Orlando. It is up to him to take the wisdom of the great paladin and bring it back to earth.
