Angiolina è una ragazzina che vive in campagna, con un amico corvo sopra la testa. Una mattina vorrebbe impastare del pane, ma la farina è terminata. Esce così per andare a comprarla dal mugnaio scoprendo, tuttavia, che il mulino è caduto in disuso. Il burbero e infarinato mugnaio si sveglia a fatica dal suo sonno rumoroso senza riuscire in alcun modo ad aiutare Angiolina, costretta quindi a cercare da sola una soluzione. Inizia così il suo viaggio iniziatico nel mondo complesso e straordinario della natura e dei suoi elementi, attraverso il dialogo e il confronto con gli abitanti della terra. Grazie alla generosità dei suoi nuovi amici, all’organizzazione delle formiche, al lavoro lungo, silenzioso ma indispensabile dei lombrichi, al volo leggero e luminoso della libellula, Angiolina potrà realizzare il suo desiderio. Con una struttura narrativa a catena, l’utilizzo di elementi naturali e una semplicità adatta a bambini dai quattro anni, viene così illustrata la necessità vitale di non sprecare le risorse naturali e viene evidenziato come la terra, l’acqua e il rispetto di tutte le forme di vita, siano le fonti primarie dell’alimentazione degli esseri viventi.

Angiolina is a young girl who lives in the countryside, with a crow friend above her head. One morning she wants to knead some bread, but she has run out of flour. So she goes out to buy some from the miller, only to discover that the mill has fallen into disuse. The grumpy, flour-covered miller struggles to wake up from his noisy sleep and is unable to help Angiolina, who is forced to find a solution on her own. Thus begins her journey of discovery into the complex and extraordinary world of nature and its elements, through dialogue and interaction with the inhabitants of the earth. Thanks to the generosity of her new friends, the organisation of the ants, the long, silent but indispensable work of the earthworms, and the light and luminous flight of the dragonfly, Angiolina is able to fulfil her wish. With a chain narrative structure, the use of natural elements and a simplicity suitable for children aged four and up, the vital need not to waste natural resources is illustrated and it is highlighted how the earth, water and respect for all forms of life are the primary sources of food for living beings.
