Young director wanted
We share the request of a company that, interested in Figure Theater as a complementary language to its theatrical research, seeks a young director for a production project.
My name is Simone Formicola I am writing on behalf of Two Little Mice, a small company.
We are currently looking for an under-35 director to produce our next project, as well as our first in puppetry; a play based on the novel "Oscar and the Lady in Pink" by Eric Emmanuel Schmitthe
We were awarded an art residency in lazio organized by the Jobel Group (www.gruppojobel.com), in collaboration with the Lazio Region, but unfortunately the director previously in charge of the show forfeited.
The residencies will take from Jan. 31 to Feb. 19, on which day there will be a small presentation to the organizers in the form of a study of the work done until then.
A few words about the show project we presented
Oscar and the lady in pink
Plot
Oscar is a child with only ten days to live because of an illness, so he decides to live them as if they were a hundred years.
This idea is suggested to him by Grandma Rosa, a former wrestling champion turned volunteer at the hospital where Oscar is hospitalized.
Because his parents and doctors avoid talking about his illness and his impending death, Oscar chooses God as his interlocutor, to whom he writes every day recounting in a kind of diary.
At the hospital he meets other seriously ill children, such as the badly burned Bacon, the obese Popcorn, the hydrocephalic Einstain, and Oscar's beloved Peggy Blue, who has blue skin due to a blood disease.
At the end of this 100-year journey, Oscar dies peacefully, having lived all the stages of a full life and having reconciled with adults and his illness.
The idea
We would like to produce a show lasting about an hour, using puppetry as the main language.
In particular, we would like to focus on the animated objects, perfectly suited, in our opinion, to tell the touching and absurd story of Oscar, seen through the irreverent and nonjudgmental eyes typical of a child.
Objects commonly found in hospitals and companions of every sick person's life come to life to accompany actors and audiences within this story.
Because objects, like children, can take on the greatest truths with the simplest words.
An attempt is to be made to create a children's theater show, for two actresses and animated objects, suitable for performance even and especially in non-theater spaces, such as schools or hospitals.
Thank you in advance for your attention
